Indian-origin junior doctor calls on UK ministers to hold talks amid strike action

An Indian-origin medic and co-chair of the British Medical Association (BMA) Junior Doctors Committee called on the UK government to present a credible pay offer to end the longest strike in the history of Britain's health service. Junior doctors have been taking industrial action since last year, demanding better pay in line with inflation. The talks between junior doctors and the government broke down last month. The BMA has been asking for an extra 35% to make up for below-inflation pay rises since 2008.
