Indian-origin motel owner shot dead in US

A 46-year-old Indian-origin motel owner, Satyen Naik, was shot dead by a homeless trespasser in Newport city, North Carolina. The suspect, Troy Kellum, barricaded himself inside a room at the motel before taking his own life. Naik was found with a gunshot wound outside the motel and was pronounced dead later. The police called in the Special Response Team (SRT) to retrieve Kellum from the barricaded room. After negotiations failed, the SRT team entered the room and Kellum shot himself with a handgun.

Singapore's Indian origin min pleads not guilty to corruption charges

Indian origin transport minister of Singapore, S Iswaran, pleaded not guilty of 27 charges labelled against him on Thursday. With political career spanning 26 years, Iswaran was facing two corruption charges under Prevention of Corruption Act one of obstructing justice and 24 of receiving gratification as a public servant under Penal Code.
