Indian-origin astrophysicist Vik Dhillon at UK university helps unravel universe mystery

Scientists, including an Indian-origin astrophysicist from the University of Sheffield, have made progress in understanding the creation of heavy chemical elements in the universe. The team used a high-end camera called ULTRACAM to pinpoint the location of a gamma-ray burst, indicating the start of a kilonova explosion. Kilonovae, which occur when two dense neutron stars merge, are believed to produce heavy elements like gold, platinum, and uranium.
