A Sikh recruit graduates from US Marine Corps with turban, beard

Jaskirat Singh has become the first US Marine to graduate while wearing a turban and beard, both of which are considered sacramental in Sikhism. Singh, who graduated on 11 August, was permitted to ignore military protocol regarding appearance after a federal court ruled in his favour last year. The exemption followed a lawsuit filed on behalf of Sikh, Muslim and Jewish recruits demanding religious accommodation.

Indian origin transport minister of Singapore, S Iswaran, pleaded not guilty of 27 charges labelled against him on Thursday.
